The charming and sincere couple, Arttemis and Krystalle Keszainn are the founders of New Earth Center. It happens to be a deaf-friendly place because they are willing to provide interpreting service at some classes and even to accommodate our other needs. I asked Krystalle to tell us more about New Earth Center.

HANDS WAVING TO ARTTEMIS AND KRYSTALLE :)

1. On Sunday, April 3 Dr. Ritamarie hosted her monthly raw food potluck in her home. It was well attended by about 100 guests including 8 deaf friends.
Ken and Lori Breslow brought an interesting dish: Kelp Pasta. Brian Determan made delicious raw cookies. I was impressed by other dishes from the deaf friends.
Nomi Shannon, the author of Raw Gourmet gave a good talk about the mistakes some people may make during their transition to raw vegan food diet.
Kathryn Singletary interpreted for us. The deaf group managed to sit and eat together at a table. The conversation was lively as we discussed raw foods, natural health and self healing.
We agreed that the deaf community deserves our own raw food potlucks. The first one will be held later this month.

2. Arttemis and Krystalle hosted an awesome presentation at New Earth Center on Sunday, April 10 from 5 to 7 PM.
Three interpreters turned up. They are: Kathryn Singletary with her friends, Stephanie and Leah. Six deaf friends including me benefited for their interpreting service.
We learned much about Body Electronics which we find fascinating and interesting. We would like to take up the course in Body Electronics in the near future.

SPRING IS COMING SOON :)

After such a bleak and cold winter with bare trees, the weather temperature started to climb higher up to warmer degrees. So far the grass is getting greener and the trees bursting forth with new green leaves. Birds of many sizes, kinds and colors are beginning to greet us with their appearances and songs.  No matter how much destruction and pollution Man has caused to our Mother Earth, Spring still comes around with renewed promises of fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts in abundance. Let us all support our organic farmers by buying our foods at their markets. If possible, let us grow fruits, vegetables and sprouts. The Natural Food stores and some book stores sell good books on organic gardening and natural control of pests. There is a good book called: SILENT SPRING written by Rachel Carson in 1962 with an introduction by Al Gore.

This book was dedicated to Albert Schweitzer who said: "MAN HAS LOST THE
CAPACITY TO FORESEE AND TO FORESTALL ALL. HE WILL END BY DESTROYING THE EARTH."

Now it is time for everyone of us to do something about our environment. It gladdens our hearts to see more and more people getting involved with recycling of glasses, cans, papers, plastics, etc It shows that more and more people start to care for our Mother Earth. It is good news but we need to do more before it is too late to save our Earth.

Let us remember Gandhi"s quotation: BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.
